Dr. Sumon Rahman is a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at ULAB and the director of the Office of Faculty Research and the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS). He is an esteemed media expert and a pioneer in the field of information literacy.
Dr. Rahman’s academic background is in Philosophy, Development Studies, and South Asian Studies, with a PhD in Cultural Studies from the University of Queensland, Australia. As a writer, he has published on popular culture, cultural studies, as well as works of literature.
Shuvashish Das Ray Dip
Research Assistant
Shuvashish Dip is a Research Assistant at the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS), ULAB. He completed his BSS from the Department of Media Studies & Journalism, ULAB. His responsibilities include debunking misinformation circulating on social media and assisting in the various research projects being undertaken at the center.
Aditi Sharif
Research Assistant
Aditi Sharif is a research assistant at the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies. She completed her graduation and post-graduation from the University of Dhaka. Her areas of interest are Political Economy of Development, Gender Studies, and South Asian Studies. She is currently engaged in a qualitative study under the Knowing the Healthy Project, WHO, which focuses on identifying the facilitators, barriers, and requirements of delivering psychological intervention for maternal mental health through mobile phones in urban slums in Low and Middle-Income countries.
Mohammad Nazmul Akbar

Mohammad Nazmul Akbar is working as an Admin Assistant at the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS), ULAB. He completed BBA from the School of Business, IUB. His areas of expertise include attention to detail, communication, and people engagement.

Rahul Roy is a System Analyst at the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies, ULAB. He completed his BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from ULAB. His responsibilities revolve around web development, cybersecurity, and research work. His research interests include computational social science, data science, and machine learning.
Md. Tushar Khan
Research Intern
Tushar Khan is a Research Intern at the Center for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS). He is currently pursuing his BSS from the department of Media Studies & Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh. His area of interest includes advocacy for healthcare rights and infrastructural development for marginalized communities, Media Information Literacy, and Women’s Rights. His responsibilities at CQS include debunking misinformation on social media and writing fact-checking reports.
