As part of the national initiative Connecting Communities: Empowering Bangladesh Against Misinformation, FactWatch the flagship fact-checking initiative of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully organised a day-long Community Discussion on 6 August 2025, in collaboration with the Institute of Technical Education and Basic Skills (ITEBS) at their Kulaura campus.

The session created a participatory space where a diverse group of local stakeholders including school teachers, religious leaders, youth club members, social workers, journalists, and content creators came together to reflect on how misinformation travels within their communities.

Participants shared real-life experiences of encountering false information on social media, highlighting local examples of disinformation that caused confusion, tension, or harm.

This event marks another milestone in the ongoing national campaign titled “Resilient Voices: Tackling Misinformation and Disinformation, Fostering Digital Literacy, and Fact-Checking in Bangladesh,” supported by The Asia Foundation.

The initiative aims to strengthen community resilience by equipping rural and underprivileged populations with the tools to identify and challenge digital misinformation.
