As part of the national initiative, FactWatch the flagship fact-checking initiative successfully conducted a day-long Digital Verification and Fact-Checking Workshop on August 7, 2025, at the ITEBS campus in Kulaura.

The session brought together more than 40 youth participants from diverse backgrounds including school teachers, religious leaders, youth club members, social workers, journalists, and content creators. They engaged in interactive discussions and group work on how to verify online content, detect manipulated visuals, and cross-check viral claims.

Participants shared personal experiences of encountering false and misleading content on social media. They recounted local examples of disinformation that had triggered confusion, mistrust, and even social tension within the community.

This workshop is part of Resilient Voices: Tackling Misinformation and Disinformation, Fostering Digital Literacy, and Fact-Checking in Bangladesh, a campaign supported by The Asia Foundation. By equipping rural and underprivileged populations with verification tools and fact-checking knowledge, the program aims to create informed, responsible, and resilient digital citizens across Bangladesh.
